From Neanderthal to the 20th Century
Chris Burden

A ten foot steel I-beam was suspended horizontally from the ceiling approximately six feet off the floor using eight pieces of heavy twine.
From the I-beam the lengths of twine passes through eyelets screwed into the ceiling and then returned to a central fastening point on the floor. Underneath the focal point of all the strings was a pile of dry straw. For approximately 40 minuets I repeatedly attempted to create fire, using a small bow and shaft. When I was finally able to create fire, I lit the straw, which burned through the cords, and the steel I-beam crashed to the floor
